EXPERIENCE

Research, analysis and editorial work

I am an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Auckland, and an Affiliated Researcher with the Department of Sociology at the National University of Singapore. I am also the Editor-in-Chief of Sociology Compass, and the Managing Editor of Current Sociology, a journal of the International Sociological Association. I specialize in issues of identity, ethnicity and race, gender, and conceptualizations of mixedness for individuals and states.

I am currently based in New Zealand, and frequently work with colleagues around the world, regularly publishing and presenting at international conferences. I have also worked as a Research Scholar at the National University of Singapore, managing research projects and conferences, and assisting in course teaching.

Previously, I worked for a variety of International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland. From 2004 to 2009, I worked as a researcher and analyst for organizations including the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), the World Economic Forum, Humanitarian Accountability Partnership and the Post-Conflict Assessment Unit of the United Nations Environment Programme.
